EDUCATION Bachelor of Science in Geography with an emphasis in Natural Resource Management, Pennsylvania State University, 1981 Masters Course Work in Environmental Resource Management, Department of Geography, University of Wyoming 1982–1983 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2008 to present Director, Center for Conservation Landowners, Natural Lands Trust As Director of the Center for Conservation Landowners (CCL), Mr. Gilchrist leads the marketing and educational programming of the Center, which offers stewardship planning, project oversight, and monitoring services to large landowners and municipalities interested in restoring and cultivating the rich and complex habitats native to this region. He is responsible for overseeing the creation of marketing materials and strategies, developing educational outlets and content, client cultivation and management, and oversight of contractors on implementation projects. 2001 to 2008 Regional Director, Land Protection, Natural Lands Trust In this position, Mr. Gilchrist was responsible for the coordination of NLT’s conservation easement and fee simple land protection program in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, and the Lehigh Valley, Poconos and Endless Mountains regions of PA. Mr. Gilchrist secured the protection of over 10,000 acres of open space, including four Boy Scout camps and a 3,200-acre NLT preserve. His duties included negotiations with landowners; grant writing; drafting and negotiation of conservation easements; public presentations; supervision of contractors; necessary due diligence; documentation of natural resources; and administering and fulfilling local, county and state open space funding program requirements. This position required a high degree of collaboration and partnering with a wide variety of local, county and state agencies, private foundations, other land trusts and private citizens. 1998 to 2001 Regional Director of Stewardship, Natural Lands Trust Mr. Gilchrist was responsible for the supervision of six Preserve Managers and 20+ NLT preserves in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the Lehigh Valley and the Pocono region. Stewardship programs included wildlife management, invasive plant management, controlled fire program and capital project management. 1987 to 1998 Preserve Manager, Gwynedd Wildlife Preserve, Natural Lands Trust Mr. Gilchrist’s activities for NLT included managing the volunteer program; design and implementation of the preserve master plan, including programmatic goals of wildlife vegetation management; managing public use of the preserve; budgeting; equipment maintenance; easement monitoring; initiating, designing, and conducting membership events and community outreach; and helping to design and conduct on-site environmental education programs. 1982 to 1987 Park Manager, Pennypack Watershed Association, Bryn Athyn, PA Mr. Gilchrist was responsible for all aspects of park management for this local land conservancy.
