The Model Checklist for Real Estate Transactions helps users organize and expedite the closing of property transactions for conservation projects. It also provides a system for establishing easily referenced records for transactions.
This set of model documents and accompanying commentary helps local governments to formally dedicate lands to public purposes and clarify what are and aren’t appropriate uses of the land. The models, having been revised in response to extensive internal review and public review during 2017, are suitable for use now. (After completion of the present round of public review, PALTA may make further revisions.) Please send suggestions for improvements to aloza_at_conserveland.org. (The materials include an option to a grant of conservation easement to a qualified holder as added protection for the land.)
This model helps local governments and private sports leagues or other recreational groups establish partnerships for providing recreational facilities and programming on public lands. It helps them define their respective roles and responsibilities so as to avoid misunderstandings.
The risk of being held responsible for injuries or property damage associated with organizing volunteer, educational, recreational and other events and activities (or opening up property for the same) may be minimized by having those who wish to participate sign a release agreement. The Model Release Agreement helps nonprofits minimize these risks. The guide Release of Liability provides commentary for the model. Comments are welcome on how the model might be improved to better serve nonprofits. Contact email@example.com.
