September 5, 2004 <> <> <> <> <>, <> <> Dear <>: As a supporter of the Lebanon Valley Conservancy (LVC), I am privileged to serve as Honorary Co-Chair of its first Annual Appeal: Investing in Lebanon County's Future. To invest in the Conservancy's mission to preserve natural habitats, historic resources and the rapidly diminishing supply of farmland and open space natural lands in our area is to invest in Lebanon County's future. Excellent "dividends" from Conservancy investments are delivered through a healthier and more economically sound environment which we all enjoy in the beautiful landscapes and historic venues that give our community character. Indeed it is in everyone's economic interest to protect what is special about the place we call "home." Investment in Lebanon County's unique cultural, historical and natural resources yields high returns, preserving our area's quality of life, heritage and future for the benefit of present and future generations. As the rate of growth increases in our area, it becomes evermore important as "value investors" to entrust our county's natural and farm lands preservation, as well as historic sites protection, to an organization that helps guide and balance both growth and preservation activities in our county - "to protect what needs to be protected and build what needs to be built." The Lebanon Valley Conservancy participates in the development of the County Comprehensive Plan while protecting and managing more than 224 acres in conservation easements to date. The Lebanon Valley Conservancy's vision is supported by the local community by its 100 plus members, and growing. Moreover, investments in preserving our county's landscapes through the Conservancy has tremendous leverage - whatever you give will be matched by nearly three times its value from foundations, government grants and private gifts of land or easements. The goal for the 2005 Annual Appeal us $25,000. We invite you to join us by investing in "a share" of your and your children's future and in our county's landscape. For this first Annual Appeal, a special friend of LVC will match all donations received by 50%. The Lebanon Valley Conservancy, as investment managers of your "environmental and heritage portfolio", merits your support. Sincerely, John Wengert 2005 Annual Appeal Chair
