Conservation Tools

The purpose of this manual is to encourage citizens, civic organizations, governments and private enterprise to collaborate more effectively on greenway and trail development. It is intended to provide information and resources specific to Pennsylvania for greenway and trail planning, acquisition, construction and management.

This Marcellus Shale Lease Guide is intended as a resource for Pennsylvania residents who are considering leasing their property for Marcellus Shale gas production, or who have decided to lease and are beginning the negotiating process. It identifies some of the key environmental issues that can be addressed in a lease; summarizes the types of approaches that have been used to address these issues in Marcellus Shale gas leases in Pennsylvania; and offers options for handling these issues in a more protective Marcellus Shale gas lease, using best management practices employed in oil and gas leasing in Pennsylvania and nationwide.

In June 2007 the Pennsylvania Environmental Council released its Climate Change Roadmap for Pennsylvania. The Roadmap presents a series of policy and action item recommendations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Pennsylvania.

This booklet provides insight in establishing an Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) in your municipality, its rights and responsibilities, and guidance in making your EAC an effective tool for your community. An EAC is a group of community residents, appointed by the elected officials, to advise them and other municipal officials about the protection, conservation, management, promotion and use of natural resources.
