The 2010 Schuylkill Watershed Congress will feature concurrent and poster sessions covering a broad range of watershed topics and exhibits by watershed organizations, environmental consulting firms and government agencies.
With a focus on networking across disciplines and a goal of presenting new information about watershed restoration, the annual Schuylkill Watershed Congress has become a highly anticipated event for watershed citizens interested in understanding, protecting and restoring their local streams.
The 2009 Schuylkill Watershed Congress, held Saturday, March 7th at Montgomery County Community College - West Campus, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, featured Keynote D. Andrew Pitz, Vice President, Strategic Policy & Planning, Natural Lands Trust. His presentation was titled "Climate Change in the Watershed." The program also offered 30 concurrent and 6 poster sessions covering a broad range of watershed topics, and 20 exhibits by watershed organizations, environmental consulting firms and government agencies. This year, registration for Saturday's program totaled 218. Participants and presenters hailed from throughout the Schuylkill Watershed, across Pennsylvania and from as far away as Highland Park, New Jersey; Rockville, Maryland; and Austin, Texas.
Whether you are a volunteer dedicated to improving your watershed, a municipal official who cares about water resources, a conservation professional charged with protecting our waterways, a teacher who wants to inform others about watersheds, or a student who wants to know more about stream function, the Schuylkill Watershed Congress offers something for you.
